Principal’s Welcome

Welcome to Sacred Heart School, Mundaring.

Sacred Heart School was established by the Sisters Of St Joseph of the Apparition in 1952 and we proudly continue their mission as we strive to “never see a need without doing something about it” (Mary MacKillop). Situated in the beautiful Hills region of Western Australia, Sacred Heart School offers students an opportunity to learn about caring for oneself, others and the environment through opportunities to connect with global and local issues. Our core Gospel values of Compassion, Courage, Forgiveness, Humility, Respect for Human Dignity and Service to Others permeates all that we do as each of us to strive and challenge ourselves and others; ‘to learn, to care, to give’.

At Sacred Heart School we are working together to provide the children in our care with the best possible education.

In every classroom, there is effective teaching and learning taking place. Our staff are dedicated to ensuring that each child has access to a quality education that produces a deep understanding of concepts, skills and ideas, a supportive classroom environment where everyone is respected and valued and fostering a connection between students, their families and our parish.

I am very proud of the Christ-centred, family-focused culture of our school.

A culture that promotes learning throughout the school. High expectations are set for my staff and students in all aspects of school life. My staff have a passion for teaching and work hard to ensure that their students achieve their full potential and become lifelong, 21st Century learners. We cater for the individual needs of our students through differentiation of the curriculum and explicit, targeted teaching practices. Teachers allow for variations in student learning styles and interests. Effective evaluation and monitoring of student achievement is an integral part of our teaching and learning process, with regular feedback given to students and parents. We also offer our students a wide range of extra-curricular activities.

We recognise the value and impact that you the parents and other family members have on the educational outcomes of your children.

Parents are the primary educators and we work hard to support you in your child’s educational journey. Parents are encouraged to take an active role in their child’s education and many opportunities are available for parents to be involved in our school. Positive partnerships between the school, families and parish are always being developed and nurtured.
